Rena Miyauchi’s Heartscape – Sea of Unity

Story Summary

With many girls having regained their memories, Rena Miyauchi remains one of the last to confront her past. A composed and logical figure, Rena buries herself in chores as a way to distract from her inner unrest. But the others notice something’s wrong — especially as thin cracks begin appearing in the sky above Oasis, like spiderwebs tracing a silent countdown.

Sensing Rena’s growing tension, Ao suggests building a telescope, hoping it will help everyone relax and rekindle a sense of wonder. The project unexpectedly resonates with Rena. As the telescope is completed and placed at the front of the school, a shimmering portal appears. Drawn to it, the girls enter Rena’s Heartscape — a melancholic realm of flooded walkways, crumbling coastal roads, and a ruined observatory under a starless sky.

This Heartscape is called the Sea of Unity — a place that once let people look at the stars together, now broken and sunken beneath the weight of memory.

Rena’s Past

As the girls traverse the Sea of Unity, they collect Memory Fragments revealing Rena's hidden past:

• She was once a science intern with AASA, researching a deadly disease known as Ash Syndrome.
• Her passion was driven by a promise made to her terminally ill girlfriend, Yuki Kinjou:“When you’re better, let’s go see the stars.”

But Yuki never got better. She died from Ash Syndrome before they could fulfill their dream. Devastated, Rena buried her emotions beneath cold logic and threw herself into research, believing she had failed to reach the stars in time.

Boss Battles

Rena’s Heartscape presents two major bosses, both symbolic of her inner struggle:

• Mid-Boss – FortressA mobile weapon built from twisted scientific tools and broken lab tech — a literal embodiment of Rena’s cold, analytical defenses turned hostile.
• Final Boss – NagaA massive, black serpent coiling around the shattered observatory. It represents the crushing weight of Rena’s guilt and grief, suffocating and inescapable.

During the fight with Naga, Rena is paralyzed by memories of Yuki's final moments. But Yuki, alive and healthy within Oasis, calls out to her mid-battle — not as a ghost, but as someone real, standing beside her now.

Rena realizes that even if Yuki died once, their connection is not meaningless. The time they’ve shared in Oasis is real. Supported by this truth, Rena breaks free of her guilt and strikes Naga’s core with newfound strength.

The Heartscape dissolves, revealing a star-filled sky — the first true night Oasis has ever shown.

Aftermath

Back at school, the girls gather for a stargazing party, enjoying the night sky for the first time. Rena, finally free of her internal burden, smiles openly. Yuki, never one to pass up a joke, teasingly misidentifies constellations — earning a rare laugh from Rena.

Their relationship is now openly acknowledged. Yuki, ever playful, is lovingly dubbed “Rena’s North Star.”
